Hyoutai is the dark/youkai/spirit species that I created. They are a creature that come from thousands or millions of years ago. Hyoutai have a bandage on their eyes, to cover them from sunlight. Hyoutai are not weak in the day, but some are, and most dislike it since the Original clan and place they come from is a dark place and only has night time. Hyoutai without a bandage or no cover over their eyes are rare or strong, and can handle daylight, though they still like night better. Hyoutai naturally like night and often do their activities at night.

 Why they wear bandage on their eyes or cover eyes

At night they don't wear the bandages. The reason is because they naturally (in Hyoutai genes)
dislike (and can't handle much) light/bright things or sources; that is why they cover their eyes using bandages. When they put on bandages,
they are not blind. They can see through it like it is not there, so they have no problem doing activities during daylight. 
Their favorite time is night time of course. They don't have to use a bandage to cover their eyes; anything that can cover their eyes can be used. It depends on them. The bandage is a basic design.

Y U R E I 

 幽霊 

Yurei are Hyoutai's servants, but they can be a foe, company, or friend, depending on their relationship with a Hyoutai. A Hyoutai is their master and 
the yurei is their little servant; Hyoutai can train them to be strong for fighting purposes. Low level yurei are basic, while the high level ones can transform into various things according to their master's liking. For example, a yurei can become a tiger and fight along the Hyoutai.

The named Yurei means "ghost" or "spirit" in Japanese. 

 SUMMONING

You can summon them by saying the trigger word on their summon tag on tail (original clan name) , the only master that can summon them while other people/thing cant summon them, they usually rest to other world , so everytime they go to another world, they count as sleeping that time, or wondering around in their world. 

彪世界 HYOSEKAI

The other world is called Hyosekai (consider this as the underworld for youkai). Hyo (from 'hyoutai') and sekai means "world" in Japanese. 
When Hyoutai are summoned, white smoke appears around them, like a summoning pop out effect.

 When they are adopted 

Once they are adopted, there will be ties between the master and the Hyoutai. 
Their master can summon them by saying a trigger word: Summon! Hyoutai KA (name). For example = Summon! Hyoutai KA Tokine!
Then the Hyoutai will appear before them. The master can summon them anytime, but in some cases, they can't summon because:

1) The Hyoutai dies (without their master's knowledge).
2) The Hyoutai has been kept within a strong barrier that makes them unable to perform teleportation.

 Disguise

Hyoutai can disguise or transform to a human naturally, but they don't do it often. Some do in rare cases. The Hyoutai features are all gone, and their eyes turn from black to white and have a normal eye colour. The hiragana/katakana clan mark will transfer to somewhere else on their body while they are disguised as human (e.g. the mark will be on their shoulder or hand, etc.)

Hyoutai do not get illnesses, like flu, fever, and such; they can only be injured physically or emotionally.
They can feel heat, cold, breezy, and other temperatures (from weather or other sources).

 Natural Genetics 

Hyoutai is originally an evil creature, but they can be tamed to become a good spirit if they are taken good care of. 
Hyoutai are also strong in fights, and have a sharp listening ability.
Their vision at night is sharp because of their eyes, while in the daylight, their eyes are not sharp. At night time, their bandages are taken off. They are actually like an old fashion type spirit, but can be modern sometimes, as not all of them are old fashion Hyoutai. Most of them are from hundreds or millions of years ago.

Natural Abilities of Hyoutai

They can fly or float like a spirit. They can listen to spirits and talk to them; those who are advance in level can summon a little spirit to help them anytime. The little ghosts are like shinigami, whose form is like a black flame (other colours, too, that is to the Hyoutai's liking).

HYOUTAI NOTES

Eating : They eat normal things like human food, but it's up to them to dislike or like them.
Drinking : They drink normal water, but some of them prefer blood.
Sleeping : They sleep like normal people, but they are usually fully awake at night so that if their master sleeps, they can guard them from danger or enemies.
- They don't defecate or urinate (poop or pee).
